ChatGPT for Business Review 2026: Is It Right for Your Team?
An honest ChatGPT Business review: real USD pricing, strengths, real limitations, data handling, and how it compares to Claude and Notion AI for teams.
ChatGPT is OpenAI's core AI assistant, and the business tier reviewed here (renamed from “ChatGPT Team” to “ChatGPT Business” in August 2025) is the shared-workspace step up from an individual Plus subscription. As of 21 July 2026, Business costs $20 USD/seat/month billed annually or $25 USD/seat/month billed monthly, a $5/seat cut from its original 2024 launch price, with a 2-seat minimum and no fixed seat cap beyond OpenAI’s 1,000-member workspace limit. It adds a shared workspace for custom GPTs, an admin console, and training exclusion on by default, over an individual Plus account. The core model quality is identical across Plus and Business; the difference is administration, not capability. The main gap is data residency: OpenAI offers regional data residency for Enterprise, Edu, Healthcare, and API customers, but not the standard Business tier, which matters for any business handling regulated personal data. For a team of five or more using AI daily who want centralised billing and shared custom GPTs, Business is a reasonable, well-documented choice. For deeper native integration into Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, Copilot or Gemini's own business tiers usually deliver more value.
Broad, well-documented feature set and clean self-serve pricing, held back by no data residency option below Enterprise and thin support until that tier.
View scoring methodology →Who it's for
- SMBs already using ChatGPT Plus individually who want a shared admin console and centralised billing
- Teams needing broad connector access (Slack, Google Drive, Outlook, SharePoint, GitHub) without committing to one specific ecosystem
- Businesses that want a training-exclusion guarantee by default, without a large cost jump from Plus
Who it's not for
- Businesses that need regional data residency for compliance — only Enterprise, Edu, Healthcare, and API tiers get it
- Teams needing SCIM-based automated user provisioning (Enterprise-only)
- Businesses already standardised on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, where Copilot or Gemini’s native integration usually delivers more value

Enterprise pricing is not published; reported figures (around $60/seat/month, 150-seat minimum) come from third-party sources, not confirmed directly with OpenAI. No ChatGPT Business tier currently offers regional data residency — only Enterprise, Edu, Healthcare, and API customers get that option.
Is ChatGPT Business worth it for a small business?▼
Yes, once at least four or five staff use ChatGPT daily for real work — shared custom GPTs and one consolidated bill start to outweigh the per-seat cost. Below that size, individual Plus subscriptions at $20 USD/month are usually cheaper for the same core model access.
What is the difference between ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Business?▼
The underlying model quality is identical. Business adds a shared workspace for custom GPTs, an admin console for managing seats and billing, higher usage limits, and training exclusion switched on by default rather than something each Plus user has to enable themselves.
Does ChatGPT Business offer regional data residency?▼
No. Regional data residency is available for ChatGPT Enterprise, Edu, Healthcare, and API customers, but not the standard Business tier. Businesses subject to cross-border data transfer rules should factor this in before choosing Business over Enterprise.
What happened to ChatGPT Team?▼
OpenAI renamed ChatGPT Team to ChatGPT Business in August 2025, the same product under a new name. Pricing was cut again in April 2026, from $25 (annual) / $30 (monthly) per seat down to $20 (annual) / $25 (monthly) per seat.
Is ChatGPT Business better than Claude or Notion AI for a team?▼
It depends on what the team needs most. ChatGPT Business wins on breadth of connectors and plugin-style GPTs, Claude often produces more natural, better-structured writing on long documents, and Notion AI is the stronger pick for a team that already runs its documents and project tracking inside Notion.
