Tidio Review for Small Ecommerce Stores

Tidio combines live chat, automation and the Lyro AI agent in a store-friendly package. It suits small Shopify and WooCommerce teams, but separate human and AI conversation quotas make volume planning essential.

Editorial Perspective

You run a small online store and have already compared Tidio with other pre-sale chatbot platforms. Tidio looks approachable, but its free tier and separate Lyro conversation limits make the real monthly cost hard to judge. This review shows which store size and chat volume Tidio suits, where its quotas become restrictive, and when another platform is the better buy. No technical background is needed, just a rough idea of your monthly conversations.

Tidio is worth considering for a small ecommerce store that wants live chat, automation and an AI agent in one platform. It best suits Shopify or WooCommerce stores with modest, predictable volume. The catch is that human conversations, Lyro AI conversations and Flows use separate quotas.

Review Score

Review Score · Tidio · 7.2/10 Recommended
Core Functionality 8/10

Combines live chat, ticketing, Flows, Lyro answers, recommendations and human handoff.

Ease of Use 8/10

Native Shopify and WooCommerce connections suit stores without dedicated IT staff.

Value for Money 6/10

Good entry pricing, but separate usage quotas complicate forecasting.

Data Safety & AU Compliance 7/10

Clear transfer information, although some data may be processed outside the EEA.

Support & Reliability 6/10

Good documentation and email help, but human live chat is limited to higher plans and there is no phone support.

Integration & Fit 8/10

Strong ecommerce fit through Shopify, WooCommerce and common messaging channels.

In short: Tidio is a sensible starting point for a small store, but the free Lyro allowance is a one-off trial. Budget from $32.50 USD per month on annual billing once you need a renewable 50-conversation AI quota.

Who Tidio is for, and who should skip it

Tidio fits a small store owner who wants one inbox for pre-sale questions, routine support and human takeover. Before setup, the owner may not know whether Free is enough or how fast Lyro will run out. After loading delivery, return and product information, Lyro can answer routine questions while the usage dashboard reveals whether paid capacity is justified.

Skip it when you need predictable high-volume pricing, phone support or enterprise controls. A store with only a handful of repetitive questions may get more value from clearer product pages and FAQs.

What Tidio costs

Free $0 USD/month. 50 human conversations monthly, 50 lifetime Lyro conversations, 100 Flows visitors monthly and 10 seats.
Starter $24.17 USD/month on annual billing. 100 human conversations, 50 one-off Lyro conversations, 100 Flows visitors and 10 seats.
Growth From $49.17 USD/month on annual billing. Starts at 250 human conversations and adds analytics, permissions and workflow features.
Plus From $300 USD/month plus usage, with custom limits, premium support and advanced controls.
Premium Custom pricing for higher-volume managed deployments.
Lyro AI Agent From $32.50 USD/month on annual billing for 50 renewable AI conversations. Paid quotas scale to 1,000 before custom pricing.

Pricing was checked on Tidio's pricing page on 27 July 2026. A store owner and two support staff still pay $24.17 USD per month in total for Starter on annual billing because it includes 10 seats. Adding entry-level Lyro brings the practical team cost to about $56.67 USD per month, or roughly $1.89 USD per day.

What Tidio does well

Tidio's main advantage is combining an AI agent with practical human support tools. Lyro can learn from store information, answer questions, recommend products and hand difficult cases to staff in the same workspace.

Shopify users can view and manage order details, send products in chat and use recommendations. WooCommerce stores also receive dedicated product synchronisation and recommendation options, while Flows handles simple triggers such as lead collection and missed conversations.

Pros

  • Live chat, ticketing, automation and Lyro in one interface
  • Native Shopify and WooCommerce product connections
  • 10 seats on Free, Starter and Growth
  • Clear human handoff
  • Useful low-volume free trial

Cons

  • Free Lyro quota does not reset
  • Human, AI and Flows quotas are separate
  • Recommendations require paid Lyro
  • Human live-chat support is restricted to higher plans
  • No phone support

The honest limitation

The quota structure is Tidio's biggest weakness. Free human conversations reset monthly, but the 50 free Lyro conversations are a one-off allowance. At two AI conversations a day, that lasts about 25 days; at five a day, about 10 days.

Tidio also states that after the Free human-conversation limit is reached, the store cannot view or reply to new messages until reset or upgrade. Track all three usage meters during the trial.

Data and privacy

Customer chats can contain names, contact details and order information. Tidio says data is mainly processed in the EEA, while some information may transfer to the United States or other countries under its published safeguards. Review the terms for the regions you serve and keep payment details out of chat.

Alternatives worth considering

Choose REP AI when onsite product discovery is the main job, Gorgias for a deeper Shopify support desk, or ManyChat when conversations begin through social comments and direct messages. These are different operating models, not interchangeable chat widgets.

Frequently asked questions

Methodology (Real-World, Verified)

We score AI tools against real SMB workflows using named vendor documentation, pricing pages, and independent sources, not enterprise demos. Pricing is verified at the vendor's published rates, with local-currency conversions noted where relevant. Compliance notes reference the legislation and regulatory guidance relevant to each article's region. Every tool is judged on one question: could a business with no dedicated IT department actually pick this up and use it on Monday morning.

Is Tidio's free plan enough for a small ecommerce store?

Yes, for a very low-volume store or controlled trial. Free includes 50 human conversations each month, but its 50 Lyro conversations last for the lifetime of the project.

How quickly will 50 Lyro conversations run out?

Two AI conversations a day use the allowance in about 25 days; five a day use it in about 10 days. Test during a normal sales period, not a quiet setup week.

Does Tidio work with Shopify and WooCommerce?

Yes. Both have dedicated product integrations, while Shopify also supports order actions inside Tidio. Custom stores can use OpenAPI but may need a developer.

Can I cancel Tidio without deleting my store data immediately?

Yes. Standard-plan users can cancel in Settings, Billing and Subscription, which stops future billing and returns the project to Free. Deleting the project is separate.

Tidio is the value pick for smaller stores, but not for every sales channel or catalogue. Compare the main ecommerce chatbot options before choosing.
